Hello,

I have just started learning how to do DAZ Studio, and have no idea as to how to create camera settings that could be focused on the areas of the body like the head, chest, hands, and hips. I learned how to do it through Poser when I used that, but the camera settings with Daz Studio are very different. Any suggestions on how to create the different types of camera settings?
Hi,
I would like to do some renders but Daz Studio is really too slow, and I don't plan to spend $1000 on a new card. I was thinking to try using one of the various online render farm services. The problem is: after I have made the scene in daz studio, how to I export it? what format? I found a list of "iray render farm" but... I am not sure how to do it. If anyone has any simple tutorial/tip I would appreciate it :) thanks
Here's my idea: my G8F has a long gown that she wants to (sometimes) hold up in her hand. Say, right-thigh raised and grabbed. So I'm thinking that I could create a weight map for where the gown is grabbed so that it would hang from that point which has the simulation strength reduced to zero. But if I save the gown, will that weight map be permanent of can I turn it on and off?
Another option is to use the geometry tool and create an area of polygons which can then be switched on or off for Visible in Simulation. However, I'm thinking that this method does not give the same kind of fall-off that a weight map does.
can someone help me to find the character?
Greetings Again,
Left off in Daz and 3D in 2008.
I would like to learn how to get back to where I left off and bring that into the now.
I have my old files.
Yet I would guess they have to be placed/installed/improrted/etc to work.
Getting the impression those were Victoria 4 times. Still exploring old files.
Are there tutorials or user manuals or the like or is it best to ask here on the forums.
Currently on a Mac M1 Big Sur. Get the sense I have to wait on that, but updates on when this will arrive would be fun.
Excited! Bought this to get back into 3D.
I have some older machines too that I dug up to make this go for now.
A Lenovo W700 with Win 7 for example or an old Lenovo D10 ThinkStation and possibly others.
The Basics I would think would be a machine that works, the Operating System needed for then or now or both and an understanding of how to place the many types of 3D files where they need to be to work - and work together.
Do I start with the current Daz or use an old version?
Help here would be wonderful. Would love to not lose years and years of work.
If my questions do not lead to the answer then answer as you will.
Thank you!
DIMis installed DAZ Studio,
use DIM Uninstall
Then use DIM install
How to unload it cleanly
Another version of the product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. You can use the control panel add / remove programs to configure or remove an existing version of the product

Hello, I want to render from DAZ Studio via AMD GPU. How can I do? I wrote from Google translate.
Is there a way to save a lighting preset that includes the HDRI/environment light and its settings, as well as the point lights in the scene? I'm redoing some serial image work and don't want to have to re-create the environment and scene lighting every time.
Thanks!
Hi boffin dudes, my PC has a 1 Terabyte SSD "C" drive, almost full to capacity and I need to do reinstall. However, as the majority of space is taken up with Daz stuff (and I don't want to be in the same position again), this time, I intend to house my new 'Daz Library' on a seperate SSD. I know it's possible to specify a path for Daz to import a 'Library' from a new location, but I am nervous that when opening my previouly created projects (before re-install), Daz wilI be unable to locate the products used, and I will have to manually search and replace each item from the new drive. If this is the case, I will have to review my life choices.
So, in a nutshell, is it possible to make Daz search for files on a new drive automatically, when opening old projects? I sincerly hope this is possible.
Many thanks, your advice would be much appreciated.
In game development we combine multiple grey scale images such as opacity, roughness, glossiness and ambient occlusion to the RGBA channels of a single image.
So R = roughness, G = glossiness, B = ambient occlusion, A = opacity.
Doing this saves a lot of graphics memory and drive space but does not appear to be utilized in Daz that I can tell.
for those of you that are into creating custom iray materials. Can you access the separate RGBA components of an image in an iray shader / material?
I've spent sooo much time resorting products out of the Lost &Found into proper categories, but then DAZ throws things back into it willy nillie just to make us all crazy. Today, I'm discovering they did it again, and it's getting worse as the day progresses! After spending a s--t ton of money on this program you'd think they would make this process easier since they obviously LOVE the L&F and will keep torturing us with this. Why do they have it at all? Their product is either installed or it's not. If they can't fix this then they should get rid of it. As it is now I'm going to cut WAY BACK on my purchases until they either fix the L&F or get rid of it. If they never fix it then I'll be spending a LOT less on DAZ. I guess that's a good thing. Why should I make my sorting torture worse with MORE PRODUCT? You tell me. Are any of you as angry and frustrated as I am?! Sound off. Tell me how you cope with it or don't. I've suggested MANY times that they give us a designated window we can drag and drop from, keeping the Smart Content window open and a designated L&F window. Apparently that's simply being ignored. We need more people to suggest this.
Hello Folks!
Im having a problem here.
Im using Daz 4.15 and the animator lite. I already baked some walking animations on to a character.
Now I Added some new Breathing Aniblocks and want to bake them as well but when I do that, the Position/Rotation changes.
Is there any workaround for this?
Thx
Version 4.15.0.2 Pro Edition (64-bit)
I've recently started getting a missing file warning when I load any G8M character.
The following files could not be found:
data/daz 3d/ genesis 8/male/genesis8male.dsf
Once I OK the warning the figure loads.
I've removed and reloaded the starter files and checked the log but still have the problem. The file appears to be where it should be.
Q:\DAZ\00 DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male\Genesis8Male.dsf
Any ideas?
With the Uber shader, Cutout Opacity automatically deactivates the volume effects, basically it turns Thin Walled on.
Is there a way to do the same with a Layer Weight in an Add Weighted Layer brick? I can turn the base of my shader invisible while showing a layer on top. But if the base uses volume effects while invisible, there's weird "ghost" color instead.
Thanks.
I recently purchased a dForce-ready hair model (dForce Classic Long Curly Hair) and am trying to drape it using simulation, but nearly every time I run the simulation, it fails — Daz simply quits unexpectedly. Daz support tells me it’s probably due to mesh intersection that happens during the simulation, a problem for which they offer no remedy. While I can do my best to avoid mesh intersection when, say, posing a model, I don’t see how to avoid it during a simulation.
This makes all dForce simulations highly problematic. There must be a better way to implement it than to just cross my fingers and hope I get lucky and avoid a crash. Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to avoid mesh collisions?
Also, a related question: Would a better graphics card run the calculations with a higher success rate? Or is the crashing bug occurring purely within Daz itself? Does anybody know?
As always, I appreciate any insights the community has regarding this issue.
I'm still relatively new to Daz so forgive me if this a relatively easy thing. I am working alot with "Look At My Hair" but it has one big drawback at the moment is that after I generate the hair, it isn't acutally "Fit To" the model. Anytime I change the pose I have to completely redo the hair / fur which takes forever as you can imagine. It is really killing the workflow that I am trying to create.
I seen a youtube video where the guy did it but the instructions were not super clear so I know it can be done. It had something to do with mimicing the models morphs or something along those lines. I guess I'm just hopeful that someone here would be kind enough to explain it a bit better.
Thank you for your assistance in advance.
