How do I install third party content in 4.9 Please

Hi again everyone. I want to make sure I'm not messing up. i downloaded some content from Most Digital Creations and I want to know how to install it. I tried the old way and it doesn't seem to work. Can someone help me. I know how to unpack the zip files and drage the files to My library (the old way). How does one go about it now with the new connection thing? 

And is there any user manual that is specifically for 4.9?

Um nicht im FAQ-Thread ( http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/35040/ ) diskutieren zu müssen, habe ich hier einen neuen Thread aufgemacht.
Thema: alles rund um DAZ Studio, Rendern, und sonstiges Gemüse - für Leute, die besser Deutsch als Englisch können. ;-)

Ein paar Infos zu mir: Man nennt mich Bee, ich bin weiblich und 44 Jahre alt, aus dem Raum Stuttgart.
Ich bin noch sehr neu auf dem gesamten Themengebiet Rendern, habe aber sehr viel Spass dabei, das Programm und auch die 3D-Komposition zu erlernen. Mein Nahziel ist erst mal, das Programm und die Techniken vernünftig zu beherrschen. Fernziele habe ich auch, aber von kleinen Animationsfilmchen und so was bin ich noch Lichtjahre entfernt.
Zur Zeit befasse ich mich mit Shadern, Licht, "etwas in Szene setzen", Fragen wie "Warum ist da schon wieder so ein "%§$%§$!" Loch in der Kleidung?!?!", und was man noch so alles als DAZ Studio Nutzer erleben kann. :-D
Daneben beschäftige ich mich auch noch mit Carrara 8.5. Hexagon, Blender, und Poser habe ich auch noch auf meiner Liste... irgendwann mal. :-)

Exporting to Max for Morphs Issues.

This is slowly driving me insane,

When I export GF3 obj using the default 3ds Max preset, it comes in Max back to front, the "Y" axis is reversed, instead of seeing the front of the model I'm seeing her behind.
Not only does the model come in the wrong way round but the normals are also flipped, when I check "Flip Normals" in Max's obj import options it still comes in with flipped normals and what looks like broken smoothing.

So then I export from DS again, this time with "Invert Positive Direction" on the "Y" axis, now when I import to Max all is as it should be, the model is facing the right direction and the normals are fine.

I export back out of Max and go to load in the morph with Morph Loader Pro, but when I apply the morph the model is warped and reversed on the Y axis.

In Morph Loader Pro checking invert positive direction on ANY axis has no efffect at all, the morph still warps and flips.

So I go back to DS, export again with the default 3ds max preset, I edit the mesh in Max, re-export, load up the morph in DS and this time the morph is mirrored, completely the opposite of what I just did in Max.

I try again, this time I flip the normals in Max before editing, but the same thing happens all morphs are mirrored.

Even when I import and export a morph making no edits at all, the mesh still moves on the base of the hands and the lower back when I scrub the morph.

I've tried in Max 2014, 2016, and 2017 all with the same result, I also tried with GF2, same thing.

I tried this a few years ago and never had these issues, has something drastically changed in the process?

Is the required process documented anywhere ?

Why do zBrush users have it so easy ?

M4 legs too muscular

I can't seem to find a morph or parameter to tone down the muscles in the M4 legs, especially the thighs. I have a 60 year old history scholar character who looks like a star athelete from the waist down. Any suggestions?

Can I make Clone (Alias) of Rig rotation properties?

Hi, before I often make Alias for figure properties. (usually set Alias for pose controller ,,

eg,, make expression controller for root node,  name = expression1, which assgined to root node,

 after that make alias for pose 1 assgined to head node,, so that when I select head,, I can use expression1, as same as  when I select root.)

Now I trying to mimic new genesis3 rigging. 

I know,, twist node , bend , and side-side is Alias of Bend node.  then I make simple cylinder, then add nodes,

now I hope to make Alias of  Rig1Bend (node)  Xrotate (property) , then assgined for Rig1Twist (node).

I remember,, usually I just need to use  Property Cloner with make as Alias option  

in Parameter tab Edit mode.  but it seems not make Alias (or make Clone) for General>Transfroms properties.

 

Is there way to make Clone as Alias about these Translation properties?sad

I try to set Alias in Property Hieralchy pane too,, but there seems no way,, to directly make new Alias for differetn node.

and I made new "property" for "twist node" then try to set it as Alias of "bend node", but it can not work too. (in Property hielarchy pane)

(I know, genesis3 figures actually use Rotation property Alias for Bend and Twist nodes.)  then hope to use same  way to my rigging. 

If I need to manually tweak each dsf s,, it seems difficult for most of user,,, to rigging and pose figure  as same as genesis3 wquartanion rigging,

and posing way.

 

Anyway,, I wan to know , how to make  Alias of rig translation properties, then assgin them for another node.

there should be way,,user make it (because,, genesis3 rigging work so,, and I can see Alias for these rotation  too)  to mimic DAZ rigging way for genesis3. (not copy anything,, just for rigging my props or figure)

How do I render for infinite time?

With the setting in the pic, it still exits at 15000 iterations or 3 days. How do I make it render till I tell it to stop?

Thing is I have a 2nd (slow) machine which I thought I could use to render high-res images (5K or so) for as long as it takes, but the render still exits after 3 days.

Dof autofocus like octane?

HI, is there any way to achieve somthing like the autofocus viewport in daz3d studio like octane do?

Any script, i was searching and always found dead link concerning the DOF control script and else

Outfit fit-to, but maintain shape

Hi everyone

Is there a way to have a piece of clothing fit to a figure (genesis 2 in this case), but maintain it's shape.

I've imported clothing as a fbx file, and the shape as soon as I import is the one I want it to have when on g2f. However, when I use transfer utility to fit it to g2f, it becomes to small and doesn't fit correctly.

I'm looking for a way to fit like clothing, but not change the actual shape when I 'fit-to'. Is this possible?

 


On starting - PostreSQL CMS missing

Hi all, I have just moved to a new graphics computer and installed the latest DAZ Studio, and used DIM to install all my content. But on starting DS I am getting the message: "A valid PostreSQL CMS connection could not be established.... Check your network, anti-virus and firewall settings for conflicts."  I have no idea what conflicts I would be looking for! Any more techie people out there know what I should do please? I use AVG virus protection and firewall - could that be making Windows think there is a conflict? Where do I look to find out? Thank you - I know I am probably just being dim! lol!

How to use "Bake Smoothed Morphs"

Under scene/Edit (while having a clothing item selected) the there is a option for "Baked Smoothed Morphs"  I assume it is for baking the morphs that are affected by a smoothing modifier, but has anyone used it?  I assume this can be used to save a state created by the smoothing modifier for later use.  I also assume it won't change your original files/runtime, only the ones in your current scene.  I searched around here, but haven't come up with much as to what exactly it does, or how best to use it.

I just purchased the Body of Light for Daz Studio, it doesn't appear in my product list! I pulled up a figure and found it in smart files under the lights category! I tried to use it and these little square dots appeared all over the figure! I am not sure how to use this product! Could some one help explain how this works?

Flush GPU Memory between Renders

Hey Ya'll,

So let me explain this behaviour.  I will put like 40 images into the batch renderer and let it go over night.  Sometimes, after 12 or so, Iray no longer uses the GPU's and switches to CPU mode (thus the images don't clear up in the alloted time).

The only thing I can think, is that there is a memory leak, or the GPU memory is not flushing properly between renders (or something else entirely that had not occured to me).  

So... should I report a bug and see if the DS programmers have a solution or is this a better forum to seek a solution (like a script you can run to clean GPU memory).

Limited Camera Rotate

Need help I can no longer orbit around when using the Camera ball in the top right corner. When I Left mouse click and drag it has limited motion. I can rotate for a limited distance left and right.

If I click on the icons to see top, left, right, and such it will pop to those views but I can not longer just rotate the mouse around.

Shader Mixer: any easy way to rotate ST?

So the Texture Coordinate Info... I'm working with the Tile brick, and I'd REALLY like some way to rotate the pattern. I'm wondering if there's a way to remap or otherwise move the coordinates from ST.

 


Problem with Bump Maps in Iray

Hey there guys!

I am having a problem with bump maps in Iray.

After plugging in the bump map and setting it to 1.0, I get these weird jagged shadows showing up.

I have had similar problem some time ago with normal maps doing this but it turned out there was something wrong with my normal map, however here I see nothing wrong with the bump map I am using.

Has anyone else experienced this? Let me know!

Is there a way to change an element pose across an entire animation

I am working on adding a motion profile animation from iClone onto G3F which changes the body pose with a shoe foot pose to zero foot pose across the entire 1100 frame animation. I can reset the first frame to the shoe pose - but is there a way or script to reset all the remaining frames back to the shoe foot pose?

Problem categorising Genesis 3 female

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I decided to reorganise my Genesis content so uninstalled everything and I'm slowly reinstalling, categorising as I go.

My problem is that when I create a category with Genesis Female 3 the folders appear but the have nothing in them. At the same time I did Genesis Male 3 and that has worked. 

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Genesis Female 3 and still the same issue. Does anyone have any suggestions as what to try next?

I tried categorising other content and had no problems it's just this one thing and it won't even let me copy and paste from the original in the Daz Library.

Content Pane empty, WTH?

I was poking around and went 'up directory' to a place where my content does not show at all in the content pane. My content manager is in order, yet I cannot get anything to show in the content pane window. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Daz|Studio completely to see if it would reset and  fix itself, but the same problem re-manifests itself.
