dForce Primitive Sim without Moving Genesis Figure(?) SELF SOLVED

How would I 'freeze'  a figure (Genesis) in a scene so that she does not resort to her default pose when I select the 'simulate' action for dForce?

I am attempting to place a simple primitive that will drap over a Genesis figure. When I attempt to do so the Genesis reverts to the default pose and moves to the set pose while the primitive moves in an undesired 'position'


How do I accept the EULA?

I'm trying to open up DAZ3DIM, and it says I have to accept the EULA.

- And I have scrolled up down, sideways, forward, back, through time, and everything but through Wonderland or over the rainbow and I cannot find anything to click or fill out to accept this thing...

Does it only work on a PC? Or only in certain browsers? Or only on Tuesdays in 1947 between 3:31-3:32pm? Or what?

Thanks to the latest update to Genesis 3, in particular the female branch.  It includes aniBlocks for the G8F figure, which is much appreciated.  Q. Will there be updates to all the other aniblocks by Go Figure, (which were made for the Generation 4 figures)?  Would be nice!!

Does Aynone Have the FaceGen Artist Pro? If so...

First, I'd like to know how good it works and people's experience with it. Is there a particular figure it works really good with?

I also wonder if anyone has tried modeling alien faces with it? Like the Na'vi from Avatar? As a test?

Then on top of that, would someone be willing to use it to creating a liking of a couple of actors? Commissioned, of course!

Daz could not find the Genesis texture!

It is so strange that I just used it yesterday and it worked perfectly fine. but this morning after I manually installed another Genesis 8 male bundle

I work with the following PC components:
Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit
NVidia Quadro FX 5800 (latest driver 12/2016 - there is no newer driver since 12/2016 for this card)
8 x Intel (R) Xeon (R) CPU X5472@3.00GHz

Now to my problem - I did:
I downloaded the file for OpenCL here:
http://registrationcenter-download.intel.com/akdlm/irc_nas/9022/opencl_runtime_16.1.1_x64_setup.msi

1) I logged in as an administrator
2) run the msi file.
3) logged out as an administrator
4) DAZ Studio started, scene created, in the Simulation Settings under Advanced, the Xeon X5472 processors are displayed under OpenCL Device.
5) Click on Simulation and get the request for compilation (according to Screen)
6) clicked on yes and
7) receive the following error message (according to screen): Error initializing OpenCL kernels

I am not a PC expert, what can I do?

dForce exploding content - possible work around?

I'm a very casual Daz user but dForce looks interesting so figured I'd play with it.  With 1 or 2 exceptions, pretty much any content I tried resulted in exploding content and / or Daz hanging and into task manager to kill the process.

I figured if it works with a primitive it may work with a plain object.  Exported a V4 item (that had previously crashed and burned) and re imported, applied the modifier and tried dropping it onto a plane - seemed to work fine. After a bit of blundering around, got the object rigged and converted to a figure, dressed genesis, applied the modifier, posed the model and simulated the drape.  The result is every bit as good as anything I managed with dynamic clothing previously.

I can't say it's a solution based on 1 test but, for what it's worth, may make dForce draping available for products that otherwise don't work.

Using Animate Lite with dforce

I noticed in the short tutorial for dforce, it says that animation needs to be baked in before using dforce.

Can I use animate Lite in conjunction with dforce? If so, how do I bake in animation created with animate Lite?

Scene Loading

For a while I've been trying to understand the process that D|S uses to load scenes. And I'm stumped. Does anyone understand it?

For example, I have a scene with 4 x G3's in a building. The DUF file is only 9 MB (not gigabytes, megabytes) on the drive. So presumably it only holds references to all of the textures and other content that resides in my runtime. And I also assume that external content on the disk is gigabytes in size. 

So what happens is this:

  1. I have Studio set to Texture Shaded mode, not Iray. I double click on the scene, and it loads the scene, but there is zero disk activity. Instead, only an increase in CPU usage and increase in system RAM usage, from 500MB up to about 4.7GB. 
  2. When the scene is loaded it shows the texture shaded view, and shows in the Properties (or whatever that panel is called) that all the content is loaded into memory.
  3. If I change the viewport to Iray, suddenly there's disk activity, and system RAM increases over time to about 23GB, which means that the system RAM usage was about 18GB greater than in Texture mode.
  4. Once the scene is loaded into RAM, it gets transferred to my GPU, and GPU RAM increases to about 8GB. Which means what was in system RAM got compressed from 18GB to 8GB when going to the GPU.

Now in trying to understand this I'm guessing the following:

  • When in texture shaded mode there's no need to load all the textures from disk since they won't be shown. So somehow that 9MB DUF file is enough to provide all the data needed to load the scene enough for Texture shaded mode. And 9MB probably loads almost instantly from disk. And somehow that 9MB of DUF file becomes 4.7GB of system RAM, but without reading any content from the disk (which I still don't understand).  
  • However, when Iray view is required to display the details of the textures and lighting, all of the content must be read from disk and brought into system RAM. And that's why system RAM usage goes from 4.7GB to 23GB.   
  • In Iray view mode, once the entire scene content is brought into system RAM, the CPU figures what is needed to send to the GPU to calculate the viewport image, and compresses textures and so on down to 8GB, and transfers that to the GPU. And then iray viewport rendering starts.  

 Does anyone know if this is close to what's going on, and if not, how does it work?

Do I understand correctly that the current EULA prohibits me from sending to a 3rd party print service a full color 3D export file in appropriate format to 3D print, for example, full color Persian Army or Greek Army figures?

Last time I checked with SHAPEWAYS it appears they don't allow me to upload any file which I don't own, or don't own the rights to reproduce, so for them the question is a bit more complex.  Since I have no control over the people managing my file through all the steps of their 3D printing process it seems too legally risky for me to try this service under the current DAZ Studio EULA.  A nightmare scenario where some 3D printer technician shares my file with friends. leading to endless charges of EULA violation, just terrifies me.  Not going there.

Now, as for monochrome 3D prints on my home 3D printer, do I understand correctly that I'm not allowed to SELL any 3D printed figures derived from DAZ content?

Octane Plugin - Batch rendering / Render queue?

So I understand DraagonStorm's batch renderer (https://www.daz3d.com/batch-render-for-daz-studio-4-and-rib) works like -> make/pose scenes -> configure render settings for the scene(s) -> save scene -> load these into batch renderer and voila, the PC is rendering all the scenes overnight.

My question is, does anyone have experience with doing the same in Octane render / Octane plugin?

I'm hesitant to buy Octane only because of this.

The program demands that I login to sign the EULA but I'm already logged in both by web, and through Daz Studio, so I'm effectively locked out!

So what gives?

EDIT:The server won't even accept my login info, until I sign the EULA, which I cannot due to not being able to ^%$# log in!

Hi guys, I just installed 4.10 and don't see anything dForce related in Edit/ Object/Geometry.  Any thoughts?

Game developer licences gone - with no warning!?!?!?

I logged in today to find a fundamental change for using DAZ assets in games. Rather than buying one licence to use the assets of a particualr vendor you must now buy a licence for each individual item.

I can see that this will make much more money for DAZ and content developers.

However given that this fundamentally changes the cost for poeople who have already invested in DAZ products in the expectation that they would be able to buy game licences in the future, I believe that to make this change with no warning is manifestly unfair.

I therefore propose that the option should remain to buy vendor licences as previously available, or at the very least there should be a period where people have an opportunity to buy the preivously available game licences before a full transition to the new licence model.

I would be interested in what others think.

 

problems with MEC4D HDRI Abandoned Industrial-Megapack

I bought  MEC4D HDRI Abandoned Industrial-Megapack in September and I still can't get it working.
HDRI file doesn't load, only cameras appear in the scene.
I already tried uninstalling, reinstalling, downloading thru browser, thru manager and still the same.

GARDENS vol 2 and CASTLE works fine. :(


How in the heck does auto fit work with Genesis 8?

I have Guilespe in the scene. I add the Traveler outfit for Genesis 3. It looks like it fits, but then the dialogbox comes up and it says that it is unsupported. If I click accept without selecting things, then the transform into the T pose. Guilespe loads with his arms down at 45 degrees. If change the first box to Genesis 3, then there is no real option in the second dropdown. There use to be things like shirt or pants. Now there's only things like long coat. For the pants and the shirt, I chose full body because there was nothing else that really applied. With that option, the cloth fit but they were almost srink wrapped.

Update to 4.10....Is it working?

I installed the update to 4.10, and I do not see the new features, and I cannot find dforce anywhere, I am not able to create a tab for it...

Is this update legit?

GamePrint: 3D Print Plugin question

Hello,

Does GamePrint: 3D Print Plugin optimize Daz creations to use with my own 3d printer or only if I transmit to GamePrint?

I can't see where it is clarified in the product description. 

My interpretation is that I would have to pay for a plugin that will only be of use if I spend at minimum another couple of hundred dollars.

Scanning Known Directories.

Content Library pane > Menu > Scan known directories for files.
Just wondering if anyone has tried doing this in 4.10 yet? I am still running 4.8 because 4.9 lacks the useful function of highlighting mapped folders that contain new content. Regardless of how many requests and bug reports I submitted, it still feels like my needs are being ignored. So I am trying to find out if this works in 4.10 or not and how exactly it works, especially with custom categories, and third party content (like from Renderosity), content that comes with no meta data, because I have no interest in the Smart Content pane. Any info you have would be appreciated.
