Error changing permissions to 040755 in /Applications/DAZ 3D/DAZ3DIM1/DAZ3DIM.app/Contents/Framework

I am having trouble creating the directory for DAZ Studio. It keeps showing an error message saying, "Error changing permissions to 040755 in /Applications/DAZ 3D/DAZ3DIM1/DAZ3DIM.app/Contents/Framework". I don't know what to do, so if anyone can help me with this problem, I would really appreciate it.   


Multiple outfits.

I have a character that will have multiple outfits throughout the story and such. I was wondering the best route to take in this. Should I add multiple outfits the ones that will be used and leave it at that and just hide and unhide the ones I need for a particular moment in a story or should I just make a few different exports for each one? They both have their flaws and benefits. I plan to render these in another software as well. All in different poses and so on. Side note FBX export has issues with weight painting the models stretch when moved as in some small areas are set to 0. Also, these models will have transformations of sorts like hulk mode (easier to say that way not actually changing into the hulk bulking up) and so on. 

(I will have to export out keyframes [since I just need poses fluid animation is not needed so in most cases I can add them side by side. Yes this is an inception.] and such and also probably do some parenting in the other software as well. There is a lot to do for just one book lol. Thankfully I have the first third of it written. Alas, it is the shortest book of the 3 my head is playing with the longest one right now. This might would have been easier if I just wrote down the ideas in my head but questions are limited to one maybe.)

Claw-ssal for G3F - Materials Not Working? [SOLVED]

Not sure if anyone else has ever had this experience, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Added G3F to scene, with the model selected click the Claw-ssal accessory, the model's fingernails extend (as expected) and are changed to a brownish colour. Keeping the model selected and clicking any Material, whether one from within Claw-ssal or otherwise, does not change the appearance of the fingernails at all. Navigating to 'Thumb 3' (for example) on the model in the Scene panel and clicking any Material also changes nothing. 

I can't seem to find anything in the documentation that suggests that there is anything different about applying materials, but it doesn't seem to behave as I would expect, and I can't figure it out. Any help?

EDIT: Never mind, I'm an idiot - there's an item called "HP Claws Full" under the model's 'Chest Upper' in the Scene panel that is where the Material needs to be applied. Didn't think to look for it there.

Um nicht im FAQ-Thread ( http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/35040/ ) diskutieren zu müssen, habe ich hier einen neuen Thread aufgemacht.
Thema: alles rund um DAZ Studio, Rendern, und sonstiges Gemüse - für Leute, die besser Deutsch als Englisch können. ;-)

Ein paar Infos zu mir: Man nennt mich Bee, ich bin weiblich und 44 Jahre alt, aus dem Raum Stuttgart.
Ich bin noch sehr neu auf dem gesamten Themengebiet Rendern, habe aber sehr viel Spass dabei, das Programm und auch die 3D-Komposition zu erlernen. Mein Nahziel ist erst mal, das Programm und die Techniken vernünftig zu beherrschen. Fernziele habe ich auch, aber von kleinen Animationsfilmchen und so was bin ich noch Lichtjahre entfernt.
Zur Zeit befasse ich mich mit Shadern, Licht, "etwas in Szene setzen", Fragen wie "Warum ist da schon wieder so ein "%§$%§$!" Loch in der Kleidung?!?!", und was man noch so alles als DAZ Studio Nutzer erleben kann. :-D
Daneben beschäftige ich mich auch noch mit Carrara 8.5. Hexagon, Blender, und Poser habe ich auch noch auf meiner Liste... irgendwann mal. :-)

Need help with AoA's Advanced Lights

Good Afternoon (or whatever time it is wherever you may be), 

I've been following a breadcrumb trail through the Forums hoping to reduce the render times for items using transparency maps in 3Delight...on advice located elsewhere I have purchased Age of Armours Advanced Lighting Bundle and installed...unfortunately I'm a bit of a noob and have no idea what I'm doing with them...the User Guide is way too vague and assumes prior knowledge I just don't possess.

I can set them up and use them as an alternative set of lights, don't get me wrong...but I can't get my head around how to divide the surfaces correctly. 

My example: I have a scene containing Hermes Hair and Mythos Collar and wrists, which slows to a crawl when rendering these three specific items. I'm aware that the Advanced Lights let me divide the scene, allowing "flagged" items to be rendered with different sample rates, what I don't understand is the "flagging" system...in my niavety I'd hoped there would be a nice simple dropdown menu that included "Transparencies" as an option.

The Diffuse Strength, Ambient Strength and Index of Refraction options don't make any sense to me, and the Garibaldi Hair Shader option seems to have disappeared from the face of the planet (I found the homepage, but the link to the Daz store gives a "Not Found" result, and doesn't seem to be available to purchase/download any more).

So how do I make use of the products advanced features in relation to hair? Don't the vast majority of items have a Diffuse or Ambient strength of 100% (or 0%), making these two flags next to useless (I'll admit I don't understand what purpose Index or Refraction serves)? Can I make use of these 3 settings to flag my hair and fur (say, by resetting Ambient/Diffuse strength on the required items to, say 99% and having the flag target that)...or is that just me being dumb? Or do I need to get hold of a copy of Garibali Express to "flag" the items I need, and if so is it still available, and Daz 4.10 compatible?

A lot of questions I know, but I'm guessing essentially it's really just one question, prompted by my ignorance...anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. smiley 

 

 

Adding Folders to the Files List

Over where all files,  lost and found et cetera are I would like to add a folder to put my favorite things. I just realized you can add stuff to folders but I want to make my own to put my favorite x things. How do I create a folder over there?

I was playing around with my daz - Millennium Horse, trying to get the render right

and then i tried to also to chaange the color, and not knowing what i have done my horse now looks like

Moved my library, now all products are marked as "NEW"

Title explains the situation, I recently moved my library from my internal hard drive to an external drive to free up space, following along with a tutorial that I found on this forum, which included a step where I re-import metadata. Now every single product in my DS library is marked with a blue box and a "NEW" tag in the corner. This goes away when I click on the item, but I'm not gonna go through and click every single item and right now it's pretty visually annoying. Any way to get rid of all the NEW tags?

Callout for DSF file that doesn't exist in DUF

Hey everyone, I have a really weird situation.One of my custom clothing is giving me an error message of missing file.

Problem is, I can't find anywhere in DUF that is looking for that file. And yet, DAZ wants to keep displaying that message for some reason.

Everything works fine as if nothing is wrong. I'm more confused because of that.

I checked all the DUF and DSF file has to do with this clothing. No where I can find a single callout..

Does anyone would know why DAZ Studio is doing this? Thanks.

Noob lighting question

Hi all,

Is there a way to get the viewport image to give a more accurate display of the final render lightening?

It’s just I’ve switched the headlight off on my camera and my view port image is nice and bright etc. But when I come to render the image is really dark. And it’s a bit of a pain to have to wait for the image to start rendering before telling that the lightening setting are all wrong.

Hi

Bere with me, I'm new...

 

Basically, I want to make this custom madhouse mansion thing, because I can't find any carnival mad houses that will work. So, I made it in photoshop (the building face) but I cannot figure out how I can get it to work on a building as a building face. I have tried several buildings but I cant get it to fit. Is there a way to load it as a 2d image/plane in daz and I can just sorta match it up to a building? I have no idea how to make my own models at this point, I am far too new for that. Any help is appreciated, I really need to get this to work for a big carnival scene.

Stained glass in Iray?

How can I make a convincing stained-glass window to render in Iray?  I want the sun to shine through it and project the colors filtered through the glass so that the design is illuminated on the floor or whatever else is within the light-ray.

So I'm trying to create a scene that is viewed from the interior of the ShuttleStar model by Kibaretto.The camera is in the cockpit and looks out the front view port of the ship. I have used the iray Glass-Solid-Clear shader on the view port windows. Surrounding the shuttlestar is the FM Solar System stardome by Flipmode which I have used with the iray emissive shader to provide ambient light from the stars. Everything looks great! The interior of the shuttlestar looks fantastic and the stars shine brightly, etc. The problem is that the Allied Fleets Frigate by Skynet3020 is nowhere in sight and it should be right smack in front of the ShuttleStar. The Frigate has been shaded with the iray base shader and the windows have been lit up by the emissive shader.

Thinking that perhaps I had an opacity channel turned down somewhere I checked all the surface tabs and they were fine. I hid the Shuttlestar and rendered the scene. There was the Frigate right where it should be. I unhid the ShuttleStar, rendered, and once again the frigate disappeared, no outlines, no lights, nothing.

So I'm stumped. I'm assuming that there is something that I need to check with the glass shader settings but I wouldn't know what that is. Anybody have any ideas?

TRansfer, Fit to and other issues

OK, I'm making an armor to use with Genesis8 male character. The breastplate is deformed very oddly when I fit it to the Genesis model. The model under the armpit distorts, and no weighting can resolve the issue. I have to make sure, that the armor under the armpit is not deformed by the collarbones nor the shoulder bend bones. How would you solve this?

I need to design a custiom clothing for genisis kid4... I modeled a cloth in hexagon. But having problem with fiting it in DAZ Studio.. It doesn't move according to the movements of the body. How could I resolve this problem. I went through many tutorial but didn't get the solution.. Your help is highly appreciated

Hi relatively new to Daz... only a couple renders.  Accidentally deleted 4.8 but had a copy of 4.7... so trying to learn that version.  Looking for a copy of 4.8 Iradium. I was hoping to do animations using Daz... but need the best version for this. Any advise? Heard there was problems rendering animations in Iray 4.9 with G3 characters, etc. ty appreciate any advise
