iRay Graphics Card Minimum Requirements
There is a ton of information in the forums on desktop graphics cards and their compatibility with iRay. I am reviewing this information and doing my best to digest it. That being said, a (simple) minimum requirements for a graphics card to be compatible with iRay would be very nice. Perhaps there's something like that on the internet, and if so, I haven't found it yet.
iray uber base shaders & parameter lock ?
Hi,
I read & tried several things with shader under iray uber base.
Some shader presets effect not all aspects (e.g. only something like an overlay effect).
Can you see for presets before loading which IUB aspects it effects?
Can you force presets to avoid effecting specific IUB aspects when loading ?
(I only found ignoring the image.)
I locked parameters like base color and applied a shader preset. But locked parameters are also overwritten.
Can it be suppressed? What is the sense of "lock"?

Creating Morphs in Objects?
Is it possible for me to add morphs to objects in DAZ Studio? Reason I ask is because I am interested in creating a highway system and scenery in DAZ Studio.

Um nicht im FAQ-Thread ( http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/35040/ ) diskutieren zu müssen, habe ich hier einen neuen Thread aufgemacht.
Thema: alles rund um DAZ Studio, Rendern, und sonstiges Gemüse - für Leute, die besser Deutsch als Englisch können. ;-)
Ein paar Infos zu mir: Man nennt mich Bee, ich bin weiblich und 44 Jahre alt, aus dem Raum Stuttgart.
Ich bin noch sehr neu auf dem gesamten Themengebiet Rendern, habe aber sehr viel Spass dabei, das Programm und auch die 3D-Komposition zu erlernen. Mein Nahziel ist erst mal, das Programm und die Techniken vernünftig zu beherrschen. Fernziele habe ich auch, aber von kleinen Animationsfilmchen und so was bin ich noch Lichtjahre entfernt.
Zur Zeit befasse ich mich mit Shadern, Licht, "etwas in Szene setzen", Fragen wie "Warum ist da schon wieder so ein "%§$%§$!" Loch in der Kleidung?!?!", und was man noch so alles als DAZ Studio Nutzer erleben kann. :-D
Daneben beschäftige ich mich auch noch mit Carrara 8.5. Hexagon, Blender, und Poser habe ich auch noch auf meiner Liste... irgendwann mal. :-)
Gen 8 to Gen 3 pose converter?
I know there is a pose converter for Gen 3 to Gen 8. Is there one that converts Gen 8 to Gen 3?
iray renderer missing
brand new pc today.
tried installing daz studio 4.11 and there's no iray render settings?
did i install something wrong?
this is 32bit, as i kept getting a crash on start up with 64bit. 32bit had it too but i looked on the forums and deleted a .dll and it loaded fine, but just no iray
Animated Wakes and Sprays
I have a 3d model of a WW2 submarine.I would like to render an animated sequece of it moving through a stormy sea with wakes and sprays.I have the iReal Animated Ocean.Does anyone know if there are any DAZ Studio compatible products that would create animated sprays and wakes for my submarine similar to the image below but animated? Cheers
Stuff ain't working...
After I just downloaded the 4.11 update I tried to load up my previous project and It was missing. After a frustrating time accepting the 6 hours of work I did is gone I tried again only the +200 morph sliders, many of the different g3f people morphs, and shaping utilities weren't working. this was happening for the past 5 days. I've tried re-downloading it many times, re-downloading the whole Daz Studios application and more nothing is helping so far.
Remote Future: Collision System
I know it's not doable today, and I imagine that there are probably very complex and long ways to do it today at the cost of some great skills and of many hours per frame, but wouldn't it be cool if Daz Studio, one day, had a collision system?
(I'm not talking about dForce, please, let me explain what I mean).
I was thinking: the part of the rendering process that takes me the most time, nowadays, is the posing part. Even if you use a premade pose, there's no way that every bone will be exactly how you want it to be.
(I know, PowerPose it's great. Yet, it's the part where I put most time).
This is because when stuff pokes it's not a beautiful view!
But what if the fingers of the interacting figure stopped exactly where the skin starts, as the clothes do?
And what if that skin reacted to that contact, sinking a little bit?
What if the same happened for the interaction with clothes? And for the bending articulations, like hips, knees, etc.?
What if a foot could interact with the floor, without poking in it, but maybe moving away a little bit of sand, or taking the shape of the hard rock?
(And yes, I know about CTRL+D, it's not what I'm talking about).
I think all of that would be wonderful!
In how many years do you think this would be possible?
Maybe with Genesis 9 one day?

Step back to 4.10
Having upgraded to 4.11, the render wouldn't work, and it would not go from Texture Shaded to NVIDIA Iray so have gone back to 4.10 why won't it work?
Is saving a 'remove LIE' preset possible?
Hey everyone, I am wokringon some free makeup LIE presets for genesis 8 female and have tried to create a preset that removes all current LIE layers so the user can remove the LIE makeup easily before applying a new one.. It doesn't seem possible using the LIE preset menu. Is it? Or is it possible to create a script to do this?

I was looking in my DIM but I can not find the DS 4.11 public beta anymore, only the DS 4.11 general release one.
I went back to DS 4.10 but would have liked the DS 4.11 public beta too.
I am not sure why it has gone missing or was it removed?
Struggling with some HDRIs
I wanted an urban setting with some graffiti and found this HDRI at HDRI Haven. It looked perfect.
I thought a shot of her in front of the grafiti on the walls would be just what I wanted. So I downloaded it (16K resolution), loaded up my character, put the HDRI in my environment tab and when I went to frame her in front of the wall, I get this instead...
Is it a format compatibility problem or am I missing something in how I set it up.
Recommendations for a new mouse
My generic 3 button mouse feels like it's on its last leg and I was trying to figure out want would be the best replacement.
I was hoping to spend something in the $20 - $40 range.
TUTORIAL: Import FBX animation to DAZ studio Pro & copy it to the G3 character
Here is a small tutorial how to get FBX animations to DAZ Studio and copy them to DAZ characters, made for Genesis3 Female.
As the DAZ Studio is very buggy with FBX animation export/import and BVH generally gives sliding problems, here is a workaround which gives precise results.
The following method works only with identical rigs and identical scalings of the characters. If any joint is offsetted, the result will show slidings and strange issues. However, if the rigs are identical, every joint can be animated and there is zero sliding, so the feets sticks to the ground & boobs wiggles. Only thing you need is a animating program like Blender, 3DS Max or Maya + one DAZ script.

First, download https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts5/mcjcopyposeanim
and install it. Replace the script "mcjCopyPoseAnim.dsa" with the attached one (pelvis rotation added).
Let's start!
1. Fire up Daz Studio and load the character you want to animate.
2. Select the character and export as FBX (You can export with clothings, but remember to zero the figure pose before exporting).
3. Load the FBX to your animation program. Leave the frame 0 as idle pose. Animate from frame 1->
DAZ Studio requires very specific keyframing, so when you've done animating, only the following should be keyframed: Hip: translation & rotation. Rest, only rotation. Parent (example: Genesis3Female) no keyframes. If anything else is keyframed, the FBX will be distorted in DAZ Studio.
4. When animated, delete all clothings and any joints which doesn't belong to the character and leave only the character and it's joints. Export your character skin, joints and animation as FBX.
5. Import your FBX to the original DAZ scene. You might notice positional offset of the characters, ignore it. The FBX animation should look perfect at this stage.
Now we copy it to the original character:
6. Select the original character (animation receiver) and "Select children"
7. Set Edit->Figure->Limits->Limits off
8. Set Edit->Figure->Lock->Unlock selected node(s). This way your joints will rotate as you animated them and they have full rotation freedom.
9. Select the donor (FBX) first, then receiver (your character) second.
10. Browse to mcasual script folder in the Content Library.
11. Load the mcjCopyPoseAnim script, hit DO IT and when done, hit EXIT.
12. Your FBX animation has been copied to your original character, so just delete the imported FBX version of it. Adjust your character to the floor level.
The script doesn't contain facial joints, you can add them manually if you need to. Just add them to the script, the naming comes from the donor structure and the order is important.
EDIT: Bare in mind that body morphs will cause inaccuracy. You can easily see this with graphmate; If the curve is off from the actual point values, that's caused by body morphs and it's painful to fix those. Try this to see the problem; load Victoria 7, make some keyframes with pectorals and see the graphmate: everything matches, key values and the curve. Next, dial voluptous morph to 100% and look at the curve again, it's off from the points.
DAZ lately crashing when rendering...
Hello everyone, i'd like to expose a problem: DAZ Studio doesn't seem to work well for me lately. Apparently it doesn't allow me to render scenes of 2+ characters anymore, and sometimes even 2 characters (G3,G8; G3,G3; G8,G8;) result in a crash of video card, and windows suddenly switches to integrated video card making the only solution to reboot system. I don't have the best graphic card ever (GTX770) but I used to render scenes with 3 characters and even complex scenes with lots of objects and lights, and now trying to render these same scenes make the program crash. I reinstalled DAZ Studio but doesn't change anything. I fear that my graphic card is some way damaged, but, for example, when I play videogames, it doesn't seem to show graphic problems or crashes of any type. I am not this expert to check problems by running diagnostic tests, and i apologize for eventually stupid things i said in this post, but i need assistance to know if i need to buy a new graphic card or maybe there's another problem. Thank you in advance for your precious assistance.

Exporting Morphs from Gen3 to Maya's Shape Editor
Hi,
Apologies if this has been posted/answered before.
I am using a Genesis 3 model from DS4.11 and exporting Morphs as a .fbx file to Maya 2019. The Morphs export successfully, but the problem is it doesn't appear in the Shapes Editor. It appears under a "rootBlendshape" but I have to go to its Attribute to find and change the values of individual blendshapes.
Does anyone know how I would go about making them appear in Maya?

Strand-based Hair editor Cut of UI
When I create a new strand-based hair in 4.11.0.383 everything goes well until I get to the distribute tab. Then the numeric values are cut off and all I am left with are sliders. When I try to resize the window it stays cut off.
