import export between DAZ studio 4.12 and Marvelous Designer 9

my concern
I run Daz and open a file of a character I dress I want to lower the straps on the arms

so I export my character with this parameter ( the two parameters in yellow do not appear in the tutorial view due to the fact the software is prior to Daz 4.12. and I have to check one of the two to avoid a problem of geometry with morphe loader)

I launch Marvelous Designer 9 and import my character

I’m going back to daz
I make : Edit/object/morph loader pro

I select the garment? I go in parameter then morph and move the cursor.

that I install in morphe loader the obj file made by Daz made for marvelous or the file made by marvelous for Daz, I have exactly the same result. the garment goes up or down with stretching or crushing deformation

It’s been almost two months that I’ve been busting my head about this problem and now I’ve got a baldness on top of my skull. seen a lot of video with similar settings but done with previous software daz 4.12 and marvelous 9, so some setting option does not appear in their video.

where is my mistake

Some DSE scripts have stopped working for me with Daz Studio 4.12.

When ever I try to use DSE scripts (in this case, fit control for Genesis 8), I get prompted to save the scene, then it says it cannot locate the dse script. I checked the folder location and the script is definitely present and accessable. This script definitely worked under Daz Studio 4.11.

Things I have tried:

  • Re-installing the product in question (redownloaded and everything)
  • Ensure my Windows 10 account has full control of the assets drive

I wanted to install Daz 4.11 just to check to see if it is a new issue with Daz 4.12 but I cannot find the older verion anywhere.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with DSE scripts? If so, how did you fix this issue?

'Export User Data' from Content DB Maintenance: What is User Data ? Export to where?

 Edit: Some salient points that I've discovered while posting to this thread.

1) User data seems to include anything that has the <Userwords> tag in its metadata. (Content Library (context menu) > Content DB Editor > Assets > Userwords)

2) User data is exported in XML format to a file named 'UserData_1.dsx' in the /Runtime/Support folder of your first mapped DAZ content directory (Edit > Preferences >Content Library > Content Directory Manager >DAZ Studio Formats)

3) It's not just the end user who adds user data. A (very) small number of DAZ products include 'user' data in their metadata (the ones I found were  DAZ_3D_13176_Default_Lights_and_Shaders_for_DAZ_Studio.dsx and DAZ_3D_16281_Victoria_6.dsx - I think this is possibly a mistake that slipped past QA ? ).See this post.

N.B. I'm using DS4.8

My understanding of metadata, the content database, and smart content, as they relate to products, is (in brief) as follows:

- The metadata for a product is contained in the /Runtime/Support/<productname>.dsx XML file. If the product doesn'thave this file then it has no metadata.
- If you install a DAZ product via DIM the metadata from this dsx  file is automatically added to the content database.
- If you use 'Manual Download', after copying the contents of the ZIP file to a content directory you need to manually add the /Runtime/Support/<productname>.dsx XML file to the metadata queue,and DAZ Studio will add it the content database.
- A product is 'smart content' if its metadata includes compatibility information.

So I'm guessing that 'User Data' is anything in the content database that did not originate from a /Runtime/Support/<productname>.dsx XML file.
Is that correct ?

I tried exporting the userdata to see what it contains (see screenshot) but I have no idea where it went - it didn't ask me for a path/fileto export to, and it didn't tell me where it was exported to.
So where did it go ?

I would love to have my entire product list sorted into the smart content folder, does anyone know of a simple way to do this? I have a large product list and it takes forever trying to find stuff. sometimes I forget i have things.

For a Daz3D project on existing OBJ model, Does is it possible for somebody to create for me bones and all necessary things in order to deform it?

Is it possible to render body parts of a character to put them together later on?

Hello,

What I'm trying to do is render various body-parts of a character, let's say the torso, arms, head, legs of a genesis 8.  The intention is to have various of those parts to later switch in a game for character customisation.

Now I'm running into trouble when rendering these parts. I have tried to make all but the desired part invisible, but this will render the backside/inside of the genesis 8 part that is visible if other parts are invisible as well.

So then I tried to use canvas, by putting two exact same genesis models in the same pose in a secene. The first genesis has only the body part to render visible, the other one hast everything else but that part visible. This approach would basically give me what I want, but sadly the rendered images seem to have a transparent/white/black outline, which is visible when putting the images pack together. (See attached images). If I render pngs the lines will be black, as tifs the lines are white. There is some transparancy inside the lines, bu even if you would set the background of the compelte image to some shade of skin colour you would still see those lines :C

Please note that for the purpose of a customizeable character I do intend to create a lot of these images and do not want to do post work on them.

Is there any way to achieve my desired result with DazStudio renders?

How do I install DAZ 3 Content, kept in Runtime Folders into DAZ 4?

I have a strong investment in DAZ 2 and DAZ 3  characters, props and structures.  Is there a way to import these into DAZ4?  Or am I stuck with DAZ3 to use them?

Unable to import image files into surface nodes in Daz Studio Pro.

I've just reinstalled Daz Studio to the latest version (4.12 Pro) on my iMac running Catalina. I can open any model but if I want to import/change any image files (JPGs, PNGs etc) into the surface nodes (texture, bump etc) all the files are greyed out/unselectable when I open the mac desktop window and will not load into Daz Studio. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you.

Spiral patterns in spotlight

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to correct it?

 

I have all atmopsheric effects turned off, I think, and it is still happening.

 

It seems to be only visible through my main camera.

 

Maybe they are circular patterns instead of spiral, not exactly sure.

How to edit Magazine/Book prop textures / covers?

I'm using Luxury Private Jet, and want to change the covers of the magazine props for a render I'm doing.

When I got into the Surfaces tab, and select the Base Color image, I select the new image I want to replace the original cover with. When I do this, however, neither the texture nor the preview image change to the new picture I've chosen. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Am I correct in understanding that OptiX cannot be turned off in 4.12?

I have multiple installations of Daz that I purpose differently: 3.0.1.120, 4.5.0.114, 4.10.1.123, and Beta 4.12.1.16.  I won't go into all of the reasons that I have each one, but each serves it's purpose.  Anyway, I tend to make scenes with many characters and complex environments that can overwhelm my Vram.  OptiX can use just enough Vram to crash.  Happened to my today.  I was rendering an outdoor scene, which seems to render faster with 4.12. Indoor scenes seem to render faster with 4.10.  Anyway, after a couple of attemnpts it was apparent that the scene was too large for 4.12.  Since this was the first of similar scenes in a 12 scene batch, I didn't want to work each scene to make it "fit."  So I ran it through 4.10 and the whole batch ran.

For those of us that tend to use the Vram to it's limits, it would be very helpful if OptiX could be toggled off in 4.12.  My opinion, for what it is worth.

Shader Mixer: How to Merge two images?

I'm working on an non-PBR shader in 3Delight. I got the highlights (A) down, I got the shadows (B) down, now I need to merge the two together.

I have tried it with the Mix brick using an Alpha of 0.5 but the end result is washed out.

I have tried a Binary Operation brick but the end result changes my colors.

How can I achieve the A+B look?

 

One a side note. Is there a brick which adds a blur effect to the whole image?
