I would like to render some videos in Blender using Daz figures but, I don't know a good way to export them. Is alembic any good for that? Do you know of any. Also would like to know how to speed up rendering and add fluid simulation.
Any good way to export from Daz to Blender?
Custom length for arms/legs
Hi everyone, i am new to daz and have a simple question. if i want to design a custom caricature style character based on let's say, genesis 3 model, how can i define its arms/legs length to my design ? I have seen morph sliders in Character Creator by Reilllusion where you can bake morphs and it reset all morphs but keep the changes to the character. below is an example
"Jumping" viewport problem is driving me insane! (EDIT: SOLVED, fix on page 1)
EDIT: The original content of this thread is below, BUT I wanted to let everyone know that I have essentially figured out a complete fix in the form of an AutoHotkey script that you can run on your PC. Sorry if the title edit is misleading, it doesn't give you enough space to be very specific. I suppose the glitch is not really "solved" by this script but I consider this workaround to be so good that it's close enough to a solution for me!
This easy-to-install script completely fixes the jumping issue by forcing the mouse to freeze in place for 100 millisecond (0.1 seconds) after whenever you Alt+Right Click or Alt+Left Click in Daz Studio. This basically simulates the action of clicking and pausing for a split second before you move the mouse, which keeps the view from jumping erratically, but which is also exhausting and nearly impossible to do manually every time you want to move the camera around. The script below is only in effect in Daz Studio so it won't affect your other programs you might use. And by the way mouse freeze is basically imperceptible in my opinion -- you will barely even notice, but it's there.
Instructions:
1) Download the program AutoHotkey at https://autohotkey.com
2) Go to your Documents folder on your PC
3) In the Documents folder, select the file Autohotkey.ahk and open it with notepad. If there isn't one there already, create a simple text Notepad document (right click > New > Text Document and name it Autohotkey.ahk.
4) If you use the default viewport controls of Ctrl+Alt+Click to navigate, open the document and paste the following into it:
SetTitleMatchMode, 2
#IfWinActive, ahk_exe dazstudio.exe
~$^!LButton::
blockInput, mouseMove
sleep, 100
blockInput, mouseMoveOff
return
~$^!MButton::
blockInput, mouseMove
sleep, 100
blockInput, mouseMoveOff
return
OR if you're like me and have remapped the viewport controls to Alt+Click instead of Ctrl+Alt+Click for ease of use, use this code insteaad:
SetTitleMatchMode, 2
#IfWinActive, ahk_exe dazstudio.exe
~$!LButton::
blockInput, mouseMove
sleep, 100
blockInput, mouseMoveOff
return
~$!MButton::
blockInput, mouseMove
sleep, 100
blockInput, mouseMoveOff
return
5) Now you want to set it so this script starts automatically whenever you boot up your PC, so do this:
-Hit WindowsKey+R on your keyboard
-Type Shell:Startup into the text field and hit enter.
-Paste your Autohotkey.ahk document in here.
And there you go! Please let me know if anyone has any questions. I am wondering if maybe I should make a new thread to alert everyone to this fix?

So I've only been using Daz Studio for about a month, and I love it, but this one weird issue is making the program a nightmare to use. Basically it has to do with the view jerkily "jumping" while I'm panning and rotating around my scene. If I ctrl+alt+click inside the viewport, wait just a moment (like a split second), and THEN move the mouse to rotate or pan, everything works fine. But if I ctrl+alt+click in the viewport and try to move the mouse to rotate/pan WITHOUT waiting a moment, about half the time the view suddenly jerks quickly in the opposite direction from how I am moving my mouse.
Here's a gif of the problem while attempting to rotate the view. (gif starts with me zooming in on the character). You can see the first leftward rotation works fine, because I move the mouse slowly and deliberately, then release the mouse button. But when I move the cursor back to the right and try to do another leftward rotation (without waiting a moment) then the view suddently JERKS to the right (and weirdly upward over the top of his head as well).

Here's a gif of the problem while trying to pan (gif starts with me zooming). You can see it's basically the same. The first pan attempt shows the issue, it results in the view quickly jerking down and to the right, despite the fact that I'm trying to pan the character up and to the left. The second pan works just fine because I am slower and more deliberate about how I move my mouse.

This issue is INCREDIBLY frustrating, not to mention extremely visually jarring when the view is shifting around in such a jerky motion, and in the opposite direction of my inputs.I tried wiping Daz completely off of my computer and did a fresh install, and I found that I'm having the EXACT same issue. I tried updating my graphics card drivers, that didn't help either. What in the world could be causing this???
how to purge my drives of all Daz content?
I have a big mess on my drives again. I do not have enough space on my laptop c drive for all my content. so I had been installing to my external drive and that seemed to be working using the cloud ie installing from within Daz studio. but I just got the auto paver scripts and was trying to use them but the author says they wont work if installed via the cloud. so I deinstalled and reinstalled via dim. after trying to rebuild my database and locate the script folder that should be there I come to find that in my products folder all my products are listed as not installed!!!! WTF? Yes I realise that daz is just not seeing them somehow but this is driving me bonkers again.
I think my problem is installing using both systems but I dont understand which one to use. can someone reccomend (again) a good method of starting over. searching my drive for directories has not helped but instaid has made a difficult situation impossible..
Are CPU Renders bad news ?
Are CPU renders bad news for your cpu Mac or Pc as the cpu gets hot ?
for example would a ten minute test render fry your cpu ?
Adding a runtime directory
I recently got a new Windows 10 laptop (with an OpenGL enabled graphics card) and now have Poser 11 as well as Daz 4.10 Pro... I have been trying to add the Poser 11 runtime library with all the figures and such, but for some reason I am not able to locate the runtime folder with all those things so that Daz has access to them all... Is there something different about Poser's runtime library that makes it not accessable to Daz? or what? I have right clicked on the Poser Format tab but the runtime folder that is located is ...lacking... in that none of the poser library is there... Any ideas?

Creating morphs for Genesis 8 Male
Is there a way to use Sakure or Aiko 8 morphs and save those head shapes to use on Genesis 8 Male figure?
Hair that is not mentioned in the Promotional section help
Can someone tell me where I can get the Ciri hair from? She's from the Witcher, and I noticed someone using her hair in the promo of this image here. But I can't find it nowhere on DAZ.
https://www.daz3d.com/gwennili-hd-for-victoria-7
They apparently listed everything else in the promo except that white hair style.
CPU usage when GPU rendering
What should go in the "My Library" folder?
I have discovered lots of odd files in both "My Library" and the "Runtime" folder within it, some of which prevent content from working properly because they are not where they should be (I blame lazy content creators ) so what SHOULD be in these folders? I vaguely remember an old posting that suggested answers to this question but I cannot find it now, and it would be good to have this info for people.
thankyou
Daz in Depth - Cues?
Not depth maps this time - I'm looking for depth cues. Is this possible in Iray? I realize it's a PBR, but sometimes I'd like to have something a bit less memory-intensive than calculating atmospheric volume. It's a simple process elsewhere - is there a way to 'turn on' depth cueing?
Headshop problem
Optix Prime related crashes
I was curious if anyone else has noticed this. Sometimes my renders crash to CPU for no apparent reason other than Optix Prime. Using GPU-Z I always adjust my scenes so they don't overload my GPU memory, so it's not an issue of overload in the case of my 980 ti's. The 780 ti frequently isn't involved in renders of big scenes. Anyway, it might render at full speed for a few minutes and then crash to CPU. If I toggle the Optix Prime switch it works. I've found this to happen if lets say it crashes with Optix x running, I switch it off and then it works ...but I've ALSO seen it happen if it crashes with Optix x off, and then when I switch it on it works. It's a bit annoying. Anyone else ever see this?
Decimator setting export help.
Hello all.
I am brand new to using the decimator plugin for Daz Studio and I cannot seem to export with the new poly count.
I want to export as an .fbx but it always reverts back to the initial high poly count.
Is there some step I'm missing. I can get the model to the poly count I want, but I just can't retain the data upon export.
Any help with be most appreciated.
Thank you
Yoda Says Use dForce To Fight Static Cling
As we all know, custom figure morphs have a tendency to cause conforming clothes to cling in certain areas:
Now, while I enjoy a wet t-shirt as much as the next guy, it's not always a good look. Wouldn't it be nice if there was an easy way to create custom fit morphs for clothing that solved this problem without having to do any sculpting, or even having to leave DS?
Well, dForce can be used to setup Animated (Timeline) simulations to do just that:
1. Load a fresh G3F
2. Load the shirt you want to make a custom fit morph for and fit it to G3F
3. Scale G3F down to 80% at frame 0
4. Scale G3F back up to 100% at frame 30
5. Dial in your custom morph at frame 30 (cling!)
6. With the shirt selected, from the Simulation Settings Pane menu, dForce -> New dForce Modifier: Dynamic Surface
7. Set the Friction for the shirt mats to .001
8. Set the Stretch Stiffness for the shirt mats to .01
9. Set the Density for the shirt mats to 1
Notes: You can also play with other mat settings to taste. For this next part, a familiarity with the Weight Map Brush is necessary and assumed. Lots of more detailed discussion/tutorials/videos on this already exist - Google is your friend!
10. With the shirt selected, Create -> New dForce Modifier Weight Node
11. Add a new Influence Weights map
12. Paint the map to look something like this:
13. In the Simulation Settings pane, set the Frames to Simulate to Animated (Use Timeline Play Range)
14. Run the dForce simulation
15. Hide G3F and export the custom fit morph for the shirt (.obj)
At this point, because we've been scaling and otherwise animating G3F, I usually start with a new scene and load a fresh G3F to use for creating the custom fit morph for the shirt (otherwise weird unintended funky stuff seems to happen sometimes for no reason). Like the Weight Map Brush, more detailed discussion/tutorials/videos on using Morph Loader Pro already exist - Google is your friend again!
16. Load a fresh scene/G3F
17. Load the shirt you want to make a custom fit morph for and fit it to G3F
18. Use Morph Loader Pro to import the .obj you exported earlier and create the anti static cling fit morph.
Hope this helps someone!

dForce current frame drape on timeline
Is there a way to current-frame-drape on each of the keyframes on a timeline? As is, it seems that dForce clears each of the previous keyframes whenever draping on the next. For example, if I have 10 separate and very different character poses on the timeline and I cannot animated drape (dForce crashes Studio or the clothing model explodes no matter what I try in the settings). So, to simplify, I would prefer just to current-frame-drape on each of the keyframes. Using the Dynamic Clothing engine I could do this by animate-drape to each keyframe and then single-frame-drape when it stops on each. Is there a way to current-frame-drape on each keyframe using dForce?
Stained glass in Iray?
How can I make a convincing stained-glass window to render in Iray? I want the sun to shine through it and project the colors filtered through the glass so that the design is illuminated on the floor or whatever else is within the light-ray.
Problem with Content Library tab
Ever since I installed Daz Studio 4.10, I notice that I sometimes lose the contents of the Content Library tab. The window itself is there, but none of the libraries nor the Categories appear. I cannot re-create the situation - it just simply happens sometimes. I exit D/S, reopen it, and all is well again.
Also, sometimes, the scroll bar at the bottom of the Content Library window disappears, and I cannot get to the right beyond whatever appears - depending on the width of the Content Library window I happen to have.
In other words, "things" are a bit unstable. I have D/S version 4.10.0.123, run Windows 10 64-bit. Has this happend to anyone else?
Terradome in Octane
Now, as I now know, Terradome 3 only works in iray. Materials seem to be lacking when it comes to using the Octane Plugin. Is there a way to make TD3 work with Octane?
Why don't pins work on Genesis 3?
I have a system for posing. I pin the feet and get the footing. Then I pin the hands ad position them. Then I position the hip and pin that. Finally I position the head and pin that. This has been my workflow since Victoria 4. Never had an issue and I know the limits of the pins very well. I know how to disable limits, I know how to double pin to prevent slight movement. I use these pins extremely frequently. I pose entirely with Active Pose and pins.
I say this to stress and make it very clear that what I am explaining did not ever happen with V/M4, G, or G2F/M.
On Genesis 3 when I pin things and use Active Pose the pins act kind of like a weak suggestion rather than the absolute I'm used to and is ruining my experience trying to adapt to the new model. This is especially obvious with hands and feet, and the effects seem to be stronger the closer the object you're moving is towards the pins.
Just to make sure nobody is confused, I mean the red thumbtacks you get when pressing space after selecting a body part with the Active Pose tool (selecting it from a menu will not allow you to engage the pins with the space bar). I do not mean Locking and Unlocking. This seems to be a pretty big confusion with people for some reason, based on my fruitless googling.
